Tonight I was watching a bunch of classic DS9 episodes, including "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges". This community will be happy to know that there are lots of sehlats still in the universe, because Bashir's dossier includes the name of one of the Romulan's pet sehlats.

I don't know what I find more touching, the continued existence of sehlats or that the Romulans took their pets with them at the Time of Sundering.

Well, now, clearly someone has to write the story where Vulcans contact the Romulans in an effort to buy breeding stock.

Why do I think the Enterprise will be going on an Important Zoological Preservation mission that is really, deep down, "How much is that sehlat in the window"?

Don't mock, it's a very serious mission. The Federation has a DUTY to preserve the culture of it's most dear member world and don't you forget it. (And besides, the tabby one is so ikkle and fluffy, can the Enterprise keeeeep it?)
